Past and present:
The Aburra Valley is located in the middle of the Department of
Antioquia. It is surrounded by beatiful mountains and it is articulated
by the Aburra River. This Valley has 3'213.000 inhabit-ants, it
has 10 municipalities such as, to the North: Barbosa, Girardota,
Copacabana, Bello, the center is Medellín; to the south.
Envigado, itagüí, Sabaneta, La Estrella y Caldas.
This zone is known for having the most
economic and social progress of the Departament. This is due to
the fact that throughout the years it has had the highest industrial
concentration, educational centers, and a vast coverage of public
services in the area.
The metropolitan area works in strenghting tourism in the Aburrá
Valley, this is done by trying to point-out the inminense natural
resources that each municipality has.
For example, in the north its warm climate is ideal for vacation
or to simply enjoy a weekend in a recreational farm and to complement
it with other activities such as swimming in the streams, paragliding,
agrotourism with all its sugarcane mills and ecological paths.
n oru south zone, one may enjoy other
type of activities such as visits to "María Auxiladora"
Sanctuary in Santa Ana's Church and the recreational and ecological
"La Romera" Park in the municipality of Sabaneta, rural
cavalcades, beatiful landscapes, museums, culture houses with its
special programs, a great variety of restaurants, "Fondas",
and nighclubs. Thus there are many things that we offer to our visitor,
besides staying only in Medellín.
It is important to take into account the closeness among each of
these municipalities. For instance, from Mede-llín, which
is in the middle, to Barbosa, in only takes an hour.
A shopping Paradise
The capital of Antioquia and the neighboring municipalities constitute
a big shopping area. You will find more than 25 malls throughout
the Metropolitan Area with excellent reputation specially in fashion
that it is also known an international level.
Health Destiny
The Aburrá Valley has an
important hospital public and private net with a well-known medical
team specialized in all areas. This has made it an outstanding destiny
for national and international visitors searching for better options
not also for medical treatments but also for cosmetical procedures. |
